Matt Dresser 

Matt Dresser is a Partner at Firethorn Advisory, where he leads the firm’s Software & Technology practice and is building its West Coast presence. He brings over 13 years of financial due diligence experience, advising private equity investors and portfolio companies across the full lifecycle of middle-market transactions. Matt specializes in buy- and sell-side quality of earnings, with a focus on customer analytics and the key drivers of recurring revenue businesses. He has led hundreds of transactions, including buyouts, growth investments, carve-outs, recapitalizations, and sell-side processes. He is known for combining an operator-oriented mindset with deep market insight, helping clients translate diligence into actionable value creation. His experience spans vertical SaaS, healthcare IT, edtech, AI-enabled platforms, digital infrastructure, and cybersecurity.

Prior to Firethorn, Matt spent 13 years at Alvarez & Marsal, rising from Associate to Senior Director. He began his career at PwC. Matt earned a B.S. in Accountancy from Villanova University and is a licensed CPA in California. He is based in San Diego.
